When we first heard the story of how Santosh Shah, a young Nepali Political Leader had stepped aside from his vibrant career to concentrate his efforts on his family's herbal tea business, we were inspired to learn in greater detail his mission to heal on multiple levels.

 

The growing of these herbs helps farmers from rural villages in Nepal become more financially empowered and support at risk females and the youth of their communities to thrive and overcome adversity they're faced with at every turn. Learning this, we couldn't help but want to bring this story to a greater audience thru film. These herbs that are cultivated at the base of the Himalayan mountains, are manufuctured  by women and girls who have become employed for the first time after suffering through the trafficking circles of Nepal and India. If more families can realize the economics of farming, the less there is likely a risk of their youth choosing a life of trafficking and slavery to make a wage for the home. We invite you to support our sojourn to this region to meet the humanitarians that are working together to change a 200 year old tradition, one leaf at a time.

 

We have already completed phase I of this project which included our first trip in October of 2024 to this region to interview:  We spent time with Santosh Shah, the farmers and their families, employees from Himalayan Herb Company, survivors of human trafficking, political leaders who are in the region striving for change, spiritual leaders and the director of an orphanage that helps girls who have had to abandon their children as a result of being trafficked, while they rehabilitate and heal, many who are children themselves.

 

We'll be headed back in October of 2025 for the next phase of  the project and to layout our shooting schedule for 2026 production. Your donations will cover this first two week film production spanning across Nepal, India & Sri Lanka. We will also be focusing our efforts on the health side of these herbs and infusions, speaking with Ayurvedic Doctors and Health practitioners about these herbs that have made great impacts on people during the pandemic and soon, the world over.
